One of the founding members of the industry, we are deeply committed to the conservation of South Africa’s sharks as shown by the establishment of our Non-profit and Public Benefit Organisation, Shark & Marine Research Institute.
We are top rated on TripAdvisor and have held the Travellers Choice Award for 6 years running! Our tours are a Jawsome mix of adventure and conservation! Our on-board Marine Biologist educates our guests on the important role sharks play in the health of our oceans, while they get to interact with these incredible creatures from the safety of our industry approved, floating cage which is secured to the side of our vessel, allowing guests to keep their head and shoulders above the water. A simple breath holding technique is used to view the sharks, our divemaster and skipper oversees the experience and will give instructions from above as to when to dive down to view the majestic sharks as they pass in front of the cage.
A great variety of Marine Life can be viewed from our vessel, from Bronze Whaler sharks which are highly interactive and curious predators that grow up to 3 meters, to the endangered and Magnificent Great White Shark that can grow up to 5 meters! We are also visited by the elusive Seven Gill Cow Shark, Sting Rays, Sun Fish, Seals, Penguins, and even beautiful Whales in season!

Terms & Conditions
- WSDC operates 1 to 3 cage diving trips per day, with trip meeting times ranging from early morning to midday
- The duration of the Shark Cage Diving Gansbaai excursion from your time of arrival at our premises to your time of departure is approximately four and a half hours. The time spent at sea from launch to return to the harbour is approximately 2 – 3 hours, and the exact dive/cage time as well as the number of dive sessions differ from day to day, depending on shark activity and sea conditions. When making your booking, please ensure that you have the full day available for this excursion as we cannot guarantee start or finish times in advance.
- Travel time from Cape Town is roughly 2.5 hours
- The final 24 hour weather and sea report will be reviewed on the day prior to the dive
