Brookdale Estate is the pinnacle of the Rudd family’s passions. Here, Mediterranean varietals, a unique Paarl terroir and unusual winemaking techniques are brought together under the visionary hand of owner, Tim Rudd, and winemaker, Kiara Scott. The first step in this vision – produce fine and interesting wine blends using unusual varietals in a South African context. Before vines could be planted, 67 hectares of alien vegetation and overgrown vines had to be cleared in order to restore balance to the land. Indigenous vegetation and gardens were created in abundance alongside new, thoughtfully planted vineyards.

Product Features

• Award: 91 Points Tim Atkin.
• Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts occurred naturally in a combination of stainless-steel tank (85%), and (15%) old French oak barrels. 
• The barrels are racked and blended with the tank fermented portion. 
• The final blend comprises 4-6 months of ageing on the lees followed by light filtration before bottling.
• Pale straw in colour and the nose displays notes of peach, pear and citrus aromas. 
• The palate is well integrated with good fruit concentration.
• A vibrant acidity is balanced by a well-rounded, creamy texture and a lingering aftertaste. 
• Lightly oaked, it presents revitalising freshness alongside full fruit flavours as a result of the warm climate and cool mountain breeze.
• Enjoy on its own, or with pork and applesauce.
