About

Simonsig Wine Estate is synonymous with the history of the South African wine industry, the Stellenbosch wine region, and the Malan family name. These elements are intertwined in this family-owned farm, where the late Frans Malan produced the first bottle of our much-loved Kaapse Vonkel, South Africaʼs first Cap Classique made in the classic bottle-fermented style. He is also honoured for co-founding the thriving Stellenbosch Wine Route, a first in its time. Today, his legacy lives on through his sons, Francois and Johan, and grandchildren Francois-Jacques, Christelle and Michael, the 2nd and 3rd Malan generations at Simonsig Wine Estate.

• This vibrant Chenin Blanc displays a brilliant clear colour with a green tinge. 
• Expect a burst of tropical fruit aromas ranging from melon, passion fruit and pear to fresh lime.

• Refreshing acidity and good length make this an exceptional summer wine.

• Early drinking style, at its best within two years from vintage date.
• Serve with beetroot and citrus salad with goat’s cheese, steamed mussels with a garlic cream sauce, whole chicken on the fire with root vegetables and, if all else fails, just on its own for pure enjoyment.

3x Pick of the Bunch Pinotage 2022

• 9% of the blend spends 12 months in second-and-third fill French oak.
• A wonderful dark berry perfume with subtle notes of liquorice and sweet spice fills the glass.
• On the palate you pick up raspberry, black cherry and strawberry compote.
• Enjoy this wine four to eight years from vintage date - good ageing potential, this wine can last much longer and will reward your patience richly.
• Enjoy with hearty pasta dishes and sundried tomato stew.
• Alternatively, South African dishes that would benefit from this wine include game dishes such as ostrich steak, springbok or kudu carpaccio, and of course a traditional South African braai.
