This is a special older vintage that has been matured in optimal conditions by the Distell Vinoteque at Die Bergkelder in Stellenbosch.
Our accumulation of experience and skills has a long history, it’s also one of the best ways to achieve excellence and as such, has been our approach to winemaking since the 17th century. 2015 Vintage
- After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in first-fill French and American oak barrels for 14 months.
- Dark red in colour.
- On the nose are ripe dark berries with liquorice and fennel aromas with slight nuances of cigar box and cedar wood spice.
- A full-bodied wine with a complex palate that is layered with fruit flavours and juicy tannins.
- Excellent enjoyed on its own or served with game or red meat dishes.
- Alcohol by Volume: 14.36%
2017 Vintage
- Although the modern Zonnebloem Cabernet Sauvignons allow for early drinking, in a medium-bodied style and with ready, creamy tannins, there is no doubt they improve with a little cellaring.
- The 2017 still has robust fruit and oak tannins that will be served well with more time in the bottle.
- Cassis, redcurrants and mint, with dusty accent and coffee roast undertones.
- Solid varietal expression, all from Stellenbosch fruit.
- Excellent enjoyed on its own or served with roasts, grilled red meat dishes and savoury pastas.
- Alcohol by Volume: 14.31%
2020 Vintage
- Award: 4 Star Platter.
- A full-bodied wine, bursting with cherry flavours and spice.
- Seamless integration of spice, cloves and plum flavours, creating a long lingering finish on the palate.
- Excellent enjoyed on its own or served with roasts, grilled red meat dishes and savoury pastas.
