About

This is a special older vintage that has been matured in optimal conditions by the Distell Vinoteque at Die Bergkelder in Stellenbosch.

Fleur du Cap (French for “Flower of the Cape”) is greatly inspired by the Cape Floral Kingdom – a wildflower region famed for its natural beauty and rich biodiversity – with each species blossoming in the specific soil and climate best suited to their needs. It is this Cape Floral Kingdom that has greatly inspired our wines to not be defined by a single place or vineyard. Our philosophy is based around the freedom to explore – to find our grapes where they grow best, rather than be constrained by district, farm, climate or even vineyard.

Product Features

2 x Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

  • 12 months of maturation took place in a combination of new French- and American oak barrels.
  • Pencil shavings, oreganum and redcurrants on the nose.
  • Sound purity and balance on the palate, with the leaner herbal notes tempered by sweet vanilla from oak, and the tannins and acidity softened with bottle age.
  • Ready to enjoy now, but no haste required, drink until 2024.
  • Enjoy with various red meat dishes, such as roast lamb or beef fillet.
  • Alcohol by Volume: 14.05%

2 x Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

  • The 2015 is looking well rounded and complete.
  • Cassis, mint chocolate, red bell pepper, cedar and even violets.
  • Effortless harmony on the palate that is light and fragrant, yet finely structured with the ever-present savoury tannins on the long finish.
  • Will improve further over the short term.
  • Enjoy with beef fillet.
  • Alcohol by Volume: 14.27%

2 x Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

  • Youthful, bright cassis and sour cherry combine with green tea and cranberry in this fruit-driven Cabernet Sauvignon with typical Fleur du Cap lightness of touch and juicy acidity.
  • The palate is complemented by a touch of sweet vanilla from light oaking that offers a welcome richness to the soft finish.
  • Enjoy with osso bucco.
  • Alcohol by Volume: 13.9%
