About

De Krans Wine Cellar is situated along the upper reaches of the picturesque Gamka River Valley in Calitzdorp in the Klein Karoo. The rich and long history of the farm dates to 1890, when it was bought by the Nel family. The current cellar was built in 1964 by Chris Nel and his brother Danie. De Krans was the first in South Africa to produce a Touriga Nacional as a dry red wine.

Product Features

• Award: 4.5 Star Platter.
• The wine spends 12 months in concrete tanks before it is left to mature for a further 10 months in 30 to 40-year-old small 300L barrels.
• Rich, deep, almost inky purple-red.
• Beautiful aromatic nose of violets, red berries, vanilla and dark chocolate.
• Full and rich flavours fill the palate with alluring red fruits, dried prunes, cocoa and spice. 
• Ripe tannins and a balanced acidity are brought together with well-integrated alcohol and a lasting finish.
• The perfect partner to most baked desserts or served as a sauce over ice cream.
•  Also excellent on its own or with well-matured cheese.
