About

Sir David Graaff first planted vines on De Grendel in 1999, almost 200 years after the last vines were destroyed. Since then De Grendel has become synonymous with exquisite wines, borne of the Graaff's love of the soil and scientific approach to winemaking. De Grendel, meaning latch in Dutch, is one of Cape Town’s oldest farms, stretching out over almost 330 hectares on the fynbos-covered slopes of Tygerberg Hill.

Product Features
  • Awards: 4.5 Star Platter, Double Gold Veritas.
  • Previous vintage awards: 90 Points Tim Atkin, Gold Michelangelo.
  • Following a gentle basket pressing, the wine was transferred to new French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation before being transferred to a combination of older barrels to mature for 13 months.
  • Clear, bright garnet in colour with a plush array of fresh strawberries, ripe cherries, and a hint of forest mushrooms.
  • A complex wine delivering an excellent balance between fruit and oak flavours.
  • Enjoy with crispy duck, mushroom galette, salmon or trout.
