About

Klein Simonsvlei, the home of Niel Joubert Wines lies on the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain, on the outskirts of Paarl in the Western Cape winelands. A large wine and fruit farm it has spectacular scenery, which includes five hills and ten dams fed from a natural mountain spring. There is abundant water and enough land diversity to accommodate the successful growing of apples, pears, peaches, plums, naartjies, lemons and blueberries, in addition to grapes. It has been owned since 1898 by the Joubert family, horticulturalists and grape growers by training, and is still run hands-on by individual family members, now in the 5th generation.

Product Features
  • Oaking here was 20% in older French 225 litre barriques, giving a savoury dusting to the dark berry and plum fruit.
  • But there’s a lot more going on; a gentle herbaceous top note, even a hint of vanilla.
  • The succulent palate is smoothly rounded, carrying the berry fruit to a satisfyingly luscious conclusion.
  • Has good palate weight, round and full.
  • A wine of character and enjoyment – yet there’s just enough grip for some ageing or to match with food.
  • Enjoy with grilled beef fillet served with seasonal vegetables and baby potatoes.
Product Specification
  • Alcohol by Volume: 14.5%
  • Region: Klapmuts
