They are composed of silicon carbide found in the crater left behind by a fallen meteor in 1893 by Henri Moissan. They sparkle bright and do not change colour or become cloudy. Moissanites are measured in mm. They have a double refractive reflection with extreme brightness. The fire, brilliance, and sparkle are characteristic of moissanite. S & G's Moissanites are hand cut by a master gem cutter to display its fire and brilliance.
The Princess-cut features a straight-sided rectangular outline with a brilliant style facet arrangement. It is a hybrid of shape and cutting style that produces more sparkle than traditional square/rectangular stone.
