About

Wild Wheels Africa offers a 16-night, 5,000km self-drive journey across Southern Africa. This unique experience combines adventure, scenic landscapes, and cultural immersion with stops in four countries. Highlights include breathtaking views, four epic party checkpoints, and three charity drop-offs to give back to local communities.

• Travel dates: Sat 14 June 2025 to 29 June 2025

This Package Includes

• 16 nights’ self-drive itinerary across 4 Southern African countries
• 4 Checkpoint Parties: Held at Orange River, Spitzkoppe, Victoria Falls, and Matopos. 
• Includes camping fees (or deductions for upgraded accommodation), themed parties with music, lighting, prizes, a welcome drink, and a meal (e.g., spit braai).
• Wild Wheels Branding & Merchandise: Vehicle stickers provided for display on the front doors and bonnet. A variety of branded items, including a sweatshirt for the welcome party, will be distributed at registration.
• Charity Days: Organized visits to schools in Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. Each team receives items worth R1,000/person (soccer balls, blankets, stationery) to distribute. Additional donations are welcomed before final payment.
• Activity Discounts: Save 20% on Shearwater activities at Victoria Falls (e.g., rafting, helicopter rides, bungee jumping). Book directly with Shearwater using “Wild Wheels” as a reference.
• Additional Perks:
• A free 4th participant per vehicle, effectively reducing costs by 25%.

• 24/7 helpline for assistance throughout the trip.
• Border Post Assistance: At the Botswana/Zimbabwe border, a designated Shearwater representative will facilitate smooth border crossings, addressing visa requirements and customs processes.
• Visa Support: Comprehensive visa and travel information will be shared 90 days before the journey. Wild Wheels Africa ensures participants are prepared with the latest requirements for all visited countries.

This Package Excludes

• Accommodation, Meals, Drinks, and Vehicle Expenses: All costs for accommodations, meals, drinks, and vehicle-related expenses not specifically mentioned above are excluded. While Wild Wheels Africa provides recommended accommodations and route suggestions, it’s up to each team to select their preferred route between the checkpoints and charity events.
• Insurance and Medical Coverage: Travel insurance and medical coverage are not included. It is the responsibility of each participant to ensure they have the appropriate coverage for the trip.
• Visas and Passport Requirements: Any visa fees or requirements are not covered. Participants must ensure that their passports have at least 6 months of validity. Additional travel documents, such as medical cover and other necessary paperwork, must be in order.

Additional Information

• Participants must have a valid driver’s license and comply with border requirements. Optional activities at various stops may incur additional fees.
• Vehicle preferences: Normal vehicle with reasonable ground clearance is perfectly fine. Best all-round vehicle would be a 4x2 double cab ‘bakkie’ (pickup truck) with ground or roof top tent.
